SITMo
Launches ePuggo Community eCenter
The Save the Ifugao Terraces Movement
(SITMo) launches the ePuggo Community eCenter (CeC) on July 27, 2006.
Representatives from EMERGE –
Last Mile Initiative/Philippines and USAID, the organizations who
assisted the CeC establishment, will be part of the launching
ceremony. Officers of SITMo major partner, the Philippine Rural
Reconstruction Movement, will also be present. The occasion will
be graced by officials from the province and SITMo partner local
government units.
The establishment of the ePuggo CeC
is a result of the partnership between the SITMo and EMERGE-LMIP.
LMIP is an activity being implemented under EMERGE, a USAID-funded
assistance project. Among its efforts is assisting local government
units and private entities set up sustainable CeCs. It is intended
to bridge the digital divide, and provide citizens with affordable
and relevant access to information and communications technology.
The World Corps-Philippines provided
training on Enterprise Development and Community eCenter Management
last April 24-26, 2006, sponsored by EMERGE-LMIP. A series of training
on website development was also sponsored by EMERGE-LMIP.
The ePuggo CeC will provide services
on internet access, webpage design, computer training, computer tutorials,
e-commerce, data encoding/printing and computer graphics.
